About Dr. David Kaufman
Dr. David Kaufman
Dr. David L. Kaufman knows that the journey you're considering is uniquely your own. You may be feeling confident or confused, excited or maybe even a bit concerned. That's why he invites you to visit him and spend time getting acquainted in his offices in Folsom, just east of Sacramento. Plastic surgery can be a very rewarding experience when patient and surgeon understand each other well and make good choices together.

Dr. Kaufman specializes in facial rejuvenation procedures, body contouring and breast/chest enhancement surgery such as breast lift and breast augmentation. Sacramento men and women can choose him with confidence knowing he's certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. In addition, he has a great deal of expertise in post bariatric plastic surgery - credentials that prompt patients from thousands of miles away to take advantage of his skills.

Originally from Cleveland, Dr. Kaufman attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. There he earned his Bachelor of Science degree with highest honors. He relocated to California to attend Navy SEAL training and served in Operation Desert Storm.

After completing service to his country, Dr. Kaufman was accepted to Harvard University Medical School where he received his Medical Doctor degree. He performed his residency at Stanford University Medical School, training in both general and plastic surgery. Dr. Kaufman was then chosen for a fellowship with Interplast, where he was able to gain additional surgical experience and “give back” at the same time by performing plastic and reconstructive procedures for adults and children in the developing world.

When his training was complete, Dr. Kaufman served as a volunteer clinical faculty member at Stanford. He was honored to be chosen as director of the Regional Burn Unit at Valley Medical Center in San Jose. Looking for just the right place to raise a family, Dr. Kaufman and his wife, Kate, chose the Sacramento area. Dr. Kaufman opened his private practice in Folsom in 2005.

Dr. Kaufman and his wife are very happily settled near Sacramento, raising three young children. They enjoy a busy, active life, and the plastic surgeon still reserves two weeks each year to travel to the far corners of the world to donate his surgical skills to others.

About Dr. Christa Clark
Dr. David Kaufman
Dr. Christa Clark, like Dr. Kaufman, offers her patients the rare combination of technical expertise with a warm, compassionate approach to working with her patients. She enjoys performing all types of procedures, including tummy tucks in Sacramento for moms who want their figures back, breast surgery for women looking to rejuvenate or enhance their curves and facial plastic surgery.

Dr. Clark began her many years of education and training with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in English Literature and Economics from the University of Michigan in her home state. She then attended Wayne State University Medical School where she earned her M.D. in the top ten of her class. After graduation, she relocated to California for a combination general surgery/plastic surgery residency at Stanford University Medical School.

After finishing her years of required training, Dr. Clark opted for more. She was selected to perform an advanced fellowship with a San Francisco plastic surgery pioneer with particular expertise in facial surgery, Dr. John Q. Owsley. Dr. Clark also chose to travel to countries like Haiti, Guatemala and Peru as part of humanitarian medical missions. There she performed reconstructive surgery on children and adults who otherwise would have no access to such services.

After these experiences, Dr. Clark relocated to Sacramento to join Dr. Kaufman in his private practice. Soon after she earned certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and she's a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the American Medical Association and the American Medical Women's Association.

With her friendly, easygoing personality, developing strong connections with her patients comes naturally to Dr. Clark. She finds it fulfilling to educate her patients and help them make sound choices. She also enjoys bringing a woman's perspective to the process of plastic surgery.

Dr. Clark and her husband, James, make their home in Sacramento. They're raising a young daughter and enjoying all that life in Northern California has to offer.

Testimonials
"Thanks Dr. Kaufman for the wonderful job you did... during surgery, before and after!

You took the time to explain everything to me and that made the recovery very easy. There were no surprises. I'm absolutely THRILLED with my new breasts! I'm wearing clothing with confidence I could have never imagined before.

Your staff was so supportive and caring that I felt like I was with family. I've already recommended a friend to see you. You're a talented surgeon and a warm, doctor. Thanks again!"
- JS, 32 year old account rep
El Dorado Hills, CA

"Dear Dr. Kaufman and Staff,
I lost over one hundred pounds after my gastric bypass, but I was actually less happy than when I was heavy. Many of you spent time with me explaining my options and were very emotionally supportive.

By the time I had surgery, I was so ready to shed the stigma of my former self. The surgery went great and I'm literally half of my former self, but twice as happy. The body lift restored my confidence and made me emotionally whole! You all worked wonderfully as a team and made me feel like the star.

Thanks again for the wonderful care. I just can say enough wonderful things about you!"
- EB, 40 year old administrative assistant
Sacramento, CA

"Dr. Kaufman,
What a change! I still can't believe it when I look in the mirror... I'm still myself, but it's as if the clock got turned back 10 years! Thanks to your wonderful staff for making me feel so special... and thanks to your hard work. I'm just thrilled!"
- LJ, 48 year old software salesperson

How Our Plastic Surgeons Help People Throughout the World

Plastic surgeons are capable of making positive change both at home and abroad. One of the wonderful things about plastic surgery is the ability to transform the lives of children and adults in need - safely and with minimal equipment and risk. In the Sacramento area, across the U.S. and worldwide, there are many organizations that provide the opportunity to help the needy.

Dr. Kaufman spent a year as the Jerome Webster Fellow for Interplast, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those across the globe who do not have access to plastic surgery. Since then, he has continued to do his part using plastic surgery to make the world a better place. Each year, Dr. Kaufman volunteers two weeks of his time to improve the lives of children and adults that have no other access to plastic surgery services. Dr. Clark has also taken part in humanitarian medical missions. During her residency training, she traveled to Haiti, Guatemala, and Peru to perform reconstructive surgery on both children and adults. Her humanitarian efforts provided free care to people suffering from facial and body deformities caused by birth and trauma related injuries. Dr. Clark feels her experiences as a surgeon on these missions have been some of the most enriching of her life.

Bay Area Charities
Recently, Dr. Kaufman and Dr. Clark volunteered with Hospital de la Familia, a medical center funded by a Portola Valley group dedicated to improving the overall condition of the developing area of Central America. This unique model is a center for continued care in many disciplines, with continuity of care provided by local physicians in training. If you are interested in supporting these organizations, please contact our plastic surgery practice, the organizations directly, or The Smile Train, an international organization dedicated to repairing the cleft lips of the world's poor.
